NEXT MEETING OF THE GREATER FEBRUARY 19TH AT THE GREATER MIDDLETOWN MILITARY MUSEUM BUILDING ON 200 WALLNUT GROVE RD IN MIDDLETOWN, ON THE 3RD TUESDAY OF THE MONTH AT 7:00pm

ALL ARE WELCOME

The grand opening of the Museum will be on April 13th at the Sons of Italy Hall, 72 Court St. Middletown. Tickets can be pick up at the Museum during the day or at the meeting on February 19th.

We need the support of every one to make this event a success.

We are now working on cataloging items

Help is needed to complete the process.

Please call Ken McCellan at 860 346-4876 to make sure he will there for times you can help.

He gets to the Museum about 9:30am

Regular Meeting

Minutes of January 15, 2019

Call to Order: President Ron Organek called the meeting of the Greater Middletown Military Museum, Inc. Board of Directors to order at 7:00 p.m. at 200 Walnut Grove Rd., Middletown, CT.

Attendance: The following Directors were present: Ron Organek, John Botti, William Hunt, Ken McClellan, Phil Cacciola, Robert Scanlon, Michael Rogalsky, Lawrence Riley, Robert Rogala, and Janet Maune. Mort Pare, William Corvo, John DiMauro, Kent Harrington, General Sar Phoutsack, and Carol Rogala also attended.

Minutes: The minutes of the meeting of December were accepted on a motion by Bill Hunt, seconded by Robert Rogala, and passed unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report: Phil Cacciola gave the report..

Contributions: Mort Pare brought in 2 frames containing pictures and information about General Maurice Rose. The JWV has donated these. General Rose was born in Middletowm.

Finance Committee: John Botti has the challenge coins to be sold at $10.00 each. DAV donated $500.00

583 VFW donated $583.00. Volunteers are needed for the April 13th opening.

Old Business: 65 pavers have been sold.

Bids will be gathered on solar panels.

Bill Corvo spoke about the need to get the bills paid. He is in favor of solar panels and will try to help.

The April 13th fundraiser should be an annual event with the understanding that this is the major fundraiser for the year.

A committee for the food will meet next week to firm up the prices for the sit down dinner at the Cantina. This will be a family style dinner with salad, antipasto, and entrée.

There will be a cash bar. There will be round tables with max attendance at 250. Tickets can then be printed and invitations can be sent out. There should be a committee to advertise the event and get ads for the book. Minute Man Printing will give a good price. A cost should be decided for people who would like to have their names in the book as supporters. There was a discussion about getting a speaker. Governor Lamont will be invited to speak. Larry McHugh will be asked to mention the opening at every meeting and breakfast of the Chamber of Commerce

Kent Harrington spoke about holding events at this facility such as wine tastings, special talks, 4th of July picnic, etc. He has culinary experience, lives in Middletown with his wife of 28 years and has two daughters.

Rob Blanchard will check with the Governor’s schedule. Blanchard was contacted while this meeting was in progress.

Adjournment: Bill Hunt made a motion to adjourn the meeting. A second was made by Michael Rogalsky and the motion was accepted unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:57 p.m.

Call To Order: President Ron Organek called the special meeting of the Greater Middletown Military Museum, Inc. Board of Directors to order at 6:30 p.m. at 200 Walnut Grove Rd., Middletown, CT.

Attendance: The following Directors were present: Ron Organek, Robert Rogala, John Botti, William Hunt, Joe Milardo, Ken McClellan, Phil Cacciola, Robert Scanlon, Michael Rogalsky, Gerald Augustine, and Janet Maune. Mort Pare, John DiMauro, Bill Currlin, Tom Goglia, and Carol Rogala also attended.

Minutes: The minutes of the meeting of November were accepted on a motion by Bill Currlin, seconded by Robert Scanlon, and passed unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report: Phil Cacciola gave the report.

Finance Committee: John Botti has ordered 500 challenge coins.
We are looking to other organizations for support. Discussed plaques. – Discussed the tree of honor.

Membership: There are two new members. Lawrence Botting and Kent Harrington became annual members.

Old Business: Work is being done for an interactive website.

Information is being gathered on solar panels.

Joe Milardo spoke about the grand opening happening in111 days on April 13, 2019. There will be two phases: 1. Officers will cut a ribbon and refreshments will be served.  There will be an evening dinner at the Italian Society on Court Street, Middletown. Corporations will be asked to buy tables. There will be 25-30 tables with 10 at each table.
A dinner committee is needed to take care of reservations, caterer, and tables. The Chamber of Commerce list will be used to send out invitations. A book committee to develop the book with artwork, pictures, list of donors, ads, and memorial ads. Social media needs to be used to generate interest.

The Catholic Veterans, DAV, Jerry Augustine (donated an 1817 musket made in Middletown), and Middletown Plate Glass were thanked for their contributions.

Adjournment: Ken McClellan made a motion to adjourn the meeting. A second was made by Michael Rogalsky and the motion was accepted unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
